Cathay Pacific will return to its pre-pandemic service levels to Brisbane and Perth with an increase of flights to the two cities.

From October 28, the Hong Kong-based carrier will increase its flights from six to 11 weekly to Perth and six to 10 to Brisbane. With a 75% increaes, the new schedule will support passengers and cargo by offering more direct options into Hong Kong.

“These latest flight updates showcase Cathay Pacific’s focus on its rebuild,” the airline said in a statement. “The Cathay Group (including fully owned subsidiary HK Express) plans to restore its passenger flights to 100% of pre-pandemic levels within the first quarter of 2025 and is on track having reached 80% within the second quarter of this year, moving people to over 80 destinations around the world.”

Frosti Lau, Cathay Pacific Regional General Manager-Southwest Pacific added the benefits the added flights will be for the airline's cargo operations.

“This announcement is equally important for our cargo business as we grow our freight capacity. The updated schedule will see new opportunities available for businesses in Brisbane and Perth across the likes of fresh produce, pharma, speciality items and more,” Lau said.

Reacting to the announcement, Perth Airport's Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove stated Cathay Pacific's decision to operate more flights to Perth “shows the confidence that the international aviation market has in Perth as a destination.”

“The new services provide 140,000 seats annually to the Perth inbound and outbound market and provide local exporters with crucial cargo capacity between Perth and Hong Kong and North Asia,” Holsgrove said.

The added flights to Brisbane and Perth follow the airline's announcement of the resumption of seasonal flights to Cairns operating between December 17 to March 29, 2025. The airline currently offers flights to five cities in Australia – Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane, and Perth.
